An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board's Informatics Programme Software team as a Principal Software Developer.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate extensive experience developing enterprise level Microsoft .Net applications with a history of successful delivery into live service in a busy Agile environment.  A comprehensive understanding of the principles of good software design and development are both essential.

The role will be heavily involved with the Care Flow project in order to deliver improved inpatient care management, the role will involve working closely with vendors in order to implement and integrate the Care Flow system in order to improve clinical safety through better visibility of observations, improved bed management, increased productivity, mobility and easy access of data.  Experience of integration with third party systems, especially using FHIR via Vonk, would be advantageous.

Candidates will be expected to have had relevant experience developing in an Agile environment.  They will be able to effectively mentor colleagues and junior developers, providing expert help and guidance in addition to taking forward new ideas and exploring
new technologies to continually improve the way we work. Candidates will also be expected to provide technical advice and solutions, supporting use of the Health Board’s clinical applications, when unforeseen issues arise in the production environment.

Required skills:
•  Excellent knowledge and industrial experience of .Net languages and technologiesExcellent record of delivering highly complex solutions
•  Excellent understanding of OOP and software design patterns
•  Knowledge of international standards for transfer of clinical data such as HL7 or FHIR
•  Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and using ORMs such as Entity Framework
•  Mentoring and coaching of junior staff
•  Mobile development experience
•  Experience of working in a busy Agile environment
