The post holder will be expected to provide active peri-operative medical care to the patient with hip fracture under supervision of the Orthogeriatirc Consultant. Facilitation of post surgical multidisciplinary rehabilitation and active discharge planning will be the key responsibility of the post holder.
The orthopaedic department at Royal Gwent Hospital has 16 consultants, 13 specialty registrars, 1 specialty doctor, 9 junior doctors and 4 nurse practitioners.
The post holder will be responsible to the Orthogeriatric consultant and work closely with the Orthogeriatric team.
The unit is very busy with heavy trauma work load all year round. There are approximately 350 hip fracture patients are admitted to Royal Gwent Hospital each year and the hip fracture care is streamlined against national hip fracture database bench marks.
This post has no on call commitment.
