We are looking for a highly competent Pharmacy Technician with proven experience of leadership and a high level of understanding of automation to join our innovative team as a Principal Pharmacy Technician, Omnicell Systems Manager.
Based within Pharmacy Technical Services in ABUHB, the applicant will be responsible for the implementation and maximising the use of Omnicell systems. This Health Board wide role will involve leading pharmacy staff based on the all sites within the project as well as working with the senior nursing staff, clinical governance leads and other stakeholders.
Whilst the operational base will be at the Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH), it is anticipated that the post will initially be based at the GUH to install the Pharmacy Automated Dispensing system and Omnicell drug vending machines implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, training and operation of the Omnicell drug vending machines that are based on wards and departments. Ongoing responsibility will include developing and delivering detailed information from the Omnicells to inform decisions on configuration and usage to maximise stockholding and accessibility of medicines, via live dashboards.
The post holder will have responsibility for delivering a programme of continuous education for staff for all elements of the Pharmacy Computer System and any new systems enhancements across the HB.
The post holder must be able to make decisions under pressure and be self-motivated. A global and corporate vision for the development of pharmacy services is essential for this role. Necessary attributes include excellent communication with both internal and external stakeholders, experience of managing a team and the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
You will work closely with, and be supported by, the Principal Pharmacist, to continue your development in pharmacy practice.
