Pharmacy Assistant (Band 3)

Duration: Permanent

Base: TBC

Closing Date for Applications:   Midnight on 14th June 2020

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is a multi-award winning NHS organisation with a passion for caring.

Join us our journey to pioneer new ways of working and deliver a world-class healthcare service fit for the future. Clinical Futures is Aneurin Bevans Health Board’s exciting programme of work to change the way NHS care and services are delivered across the Gwent area, centralising and promoting services in or closer to the home, along with high quality hospital services available when needed.  As part of this journey, we will shortly be opening our brand new £350m, 462 bed purpose built Specialist and Critical Care Centre named “The Grange University Hospital”.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board provides an exceptional workplace where you can feel trusted and valued. Whatever your specialty or stage in your career, we have opportunities for everyone to start, grow and build their career. We offer excellent in-house training and development programmes, including opportunities to undertake courses, modules and degrees from further education providers and universities, plus a range of management development programmes are also available.

We have exciting opportunities for Band 3 Pharmacy Assistants to join our friendly team at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB). The posts will initially be based on one of our existing sites Nevill Hall Hospital (NHH), Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH) or Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr (YYF) for training but the final site will be at either NHH, RGH or the Grange University Hospital. This will be decided during August 2020 based on staff availability and preference.

The pharmacy provides a high-quality medicines service supplying medication to a variety of patients, wards/departments and peripheral hospitals, the majority of which is processed by our automated robot dispensing system. The role will involve dispensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals, restocking and optimisation of pharmacy robotic storage and supporting the wider pharmacy team in providing a medicines management service. The roles will be mainly Mon-Fri but there will be a need for weekend working on a rotational basis.

We are looking for a number of conscientious and adaptable individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. To be eligible you must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hardworking and have a good standard of general education. Computer literacy, accuracy and attention to detail are essential.

We are willing to consider flexible working solutions and would encourage an informal visit. The Pharmacy Department will shortly be undertaking a staff consultation process in view of the implementation of the Clinical Futures Programme and we welcome the successful post holder to be involved in this.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you and receive your application!!
