The Community Dental Service (CDS) in ABUHB is a Salaried Dental Service providing Oral Health Care Services to vulnerable client groups in line with Welsh Health Circular 2016/003 (Dental Services for Vulnerable People and the Role of the Community Dental Service). This new post is part of the South East Wales initiative funded by Welsh Government to improve the oral health and quality of dental services for children in Wales. Applicants can be part or full time and will link with the Cwm Taf Community Dental Services to support the quality improvement for child dental health programmes. Gwent is situated in South East Wales with easy access from Cardiff and Bristol.


Should the successful candidate choose to take a full time post then there is the opportunity to work a day a week at the Dental Hospital in Cardiff working alongside Consultants in Paediatric Dentistry.

Free parking is available across all Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Sites.

This position involves Regulated Activity with children and/or adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:

  • Enhanced check with barred list information, including an adults and children’s barred list check

Applicants must be fully registered with the GDC and hold a Licence to Practice.

On the GDC Specialist Register in SCD or will have a CCST within 6 months of interview

This post is not included on the current UK Shortage Occupation List and is subject to the rules outlined in the attachment ‘Resident Labour Market Test Guidance’.
