Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for delivering a high standard of specialist evidence based care to children and their families. The post holder will be a key member in relation to development of practice on the ward. They will be working independently/autonomously without direct supervision, accountable for own professional actions. 

Main duties of the job

ABUHB Day Surgery Unit are seeking to employ a part time Paediatric trained nurse to join our friendly Day Surgery Unit based at Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport.

Candidates should be NMC registered RSCN or be an RN holding a children’s qualification.

The successful candidate will be committed to delivering excellent surgical care to paediatric patients attending our Day Surgery Unit on our designated paediatric surgery days and must be PILS trained. They will be required to work with our existing day surgery team and be responsible for admission, pre and post-operative care and discharge of the patients listed on our paediatric surgery sessions.  Previous experience within a surgical setting is essential, venepuncture and recovery skills would be advantageous however training can be facilitated.

  • Registered Sick Children’s Nurse (RSCN) holding current registration with NMC OR RN with recognised children’s qualification
