Aneurin Bevan University Health Board

 

Full Time (10 Sessions) Consultant Haematologist

 

Based: Royal Gwent Hospital

 

Applications are invited for the post of consultant haematologist, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. This is a replacement post.

 

You will join an enthusiastic team of six Consultant Haematologists providing care to the population of Gwent. The successful applicant will be expected to have broad experience in general and malignant adult haematology. The department provides a full range of clinical and laboratory services including in-patient care to BSCH level 2B, and is well-supported by specialist nurses in haemato-oncology, anticoagulation and blood transfusion. There is an active clinical trials portfolio supported by a dedicated research team.

 

Clinical duties will be based on the Royal Gwent Site with out of hours cover provided across Royal Gwent Hospital, Nevill Hall Hospital and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr on a 1in 7 on call rota. Ability to travel between sites is required.

 

Although the post is full time, applications are welcome from candidates who require flexible working arrangements.

This position involves Regulated Activity with adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:

  • Enhanced check with barred list information, including  
  • - an adults barred list check

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice. Applicants for Consultant posts must also be on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register for Haematology or will be due to obtain relevant CCT within 6 months of the date of interview.

 

This post is not included on the current UK Shortage Occupation List and is subject to the rules outlined in the attachment ‘Resident Labour Market Test Guidance’.
