A vacancy has arisen in the Blood Sciences department of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Royal Gwent Hospital for a HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Biochemistry team.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist with a flexible approach to work. The post will be initially based in Biochemistry at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, and will transfer to a new build hospital - the Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran - during 2021.
The Grange University Hospital is a specialist critical care hospital currently under construction and nearing completion. An essential component of this is the design and installation of a purpose built, modern Blood Sciences laboratory, with new automation to deliver high quality Biochemistry services.
The post is a full time permanent role, covering 37.5 hours over a 7 day working week. Participation in the out of hours service will be an essential requirement, once deemed competent in all relevant areas. The OOH service is provided over 24/7, 365 days with a shift pattern derived through e-roster. The successful candidate may be required to rotate to other sites within the Health Board, in Abergavenny and Ystrad Mynach, to support the out of hours arrangements if the need arises.
The department has full UKAS accreditation and is an approved HCPC training laboratory. Continuous professional development and completion of an IBMS Specialist Portfolio is actively encouraged and supported.
The laboratory at the Royal Gwent Hospital is equipped with Abbott Alinity automation, and also has a busy Special Chemistry department providing a wide repertoire of specialist investigations.
You will be HCPC registered, hold an IBMS Specialist Portfolio or to complete within TWO years from the start of this appointment, demonstrate a commitment to CPD, have excellent interpersonal and time-management skills, be committed to service excellence and be keen on supporting development of Pathology services within South East Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
