Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist

Aneurin Bevan University Heath Board is seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist for our in-patient unit in Newport. Our psychiatric service in Newport has evolved in recent years to a functional model and the post holder will work closely with two community Consultant Psychiatrists covering Newport East and West CMHT’s.

The post holder will join a forward thinking, motivated inpatient team with strong links between the members of the multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team, GP’s and voluntary agencies.

We are driven to improve our quality and safety within the service achieving excellent clinical care. The successful candidate will be required to provide clinical and professional leadership within the service.

We are keen to support your on-going professional development with there being opportunities to develop areas of special interest within the MH and LD Division. You will be encouraged to take an active part in clinical governance initiatives such as teaching and audit as part of this role.

The University Health Board covers a key geographical area on the picturesque Welsh border, with Cardiff and Bristol within easy commuting distance and direct links by road and rail to major UK centres such as London, Birmingham and Manchester. This position involves Regulated Activity with adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:

Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC

Candidates for Consultant posts must also be on the GMC Specialist Register (including via CESR/European Community Rights) or will have a CCT/CESR(CP) date within 6 months of interview.
