Primary Care and Community Services Division

Band 6 Decision Support Accountant - Secondment Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Primary Care and Community Services Finance Business Partner team for a 9 month secondment as a Decision Support Accountant. The role will focus on Primary Care Service Sustainability and Transformation programmes within the division.

Key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing full financial support to Torfaen locality including leading on the development of forecasts and supporting budget holders to identify and deliver savings and efficiencies.
  • Ensuring appropriate financial controls and governance arrangements are in place and followed.
  • Preparation and use of benchmarking information across all elements of the locality, including district nursing and community hospitals.
  • Providing financial support to practices and the division in aspects of the process of taking on a new managed practice.
  • Supporting benchmarking of independent GP practices, internally and externally, in order to establish potential reasons for sustainability issues and any areas where efficiencies could be made.
  • Financial support and challenge to the Transformation Programme, meeting with Programme leads ensuring all forecasts are accurate and timely.
  • Pro-active contribution to the Transformation Delivery Group.
  • Training and education of non-financial staff where required.

You will need initiative to ‘learn the business’ of the Division, have the confidence to challenge current practice and identify improvements and have the ability to plan and implement changes successfully. To achieve this you will need to be highly motivated and organised and will need to provide sound business and financial advice both independently, often away from the office environment, and as part of the Finance Business Partner team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
