Specialty Doctor in Care of the Elderly

Based Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, Ebbw Vale, SE Wales

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen in a team of 3 SAS Doctors within the COTE Directorate based at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan but with integrated connections at other Community Hospitals and Nevill Hall Hospital within Aneurin Bevan Health Board. The main responsibility includes - Care of The Elderly and Rehabilitation. There is also an opportunity to develop clinics in the successful applicants chosen special interest i.e. Parkinsons. Aneurin Bevan Health Board is an integrated organisation providing acute, community and mental health services across 5 unitary authorities. It serves a population in excess of 550,000, with additional services delivered to the neighbouring county of Powys. Professional development of our medical staff is a priority for the Health Board and there is a well developed teaching programme for medical staff across the acute and community divisions. The close working between general and mental health services for the elderly is encouraged within the Health Board and these services are co-located on the Chepstow Community Hospital site. Free parking is available across all Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Sites.

This position involves Regulated Activity with adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer: • Enhanced check with barred list information, including an adults barred list check. Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC.
