Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.
The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Older Adult Psychology Service is looking for an enthusiastic practitioner psychologist to join our existing team. Our current service consists of 13 qualified psychologists, arts therapists and assistant psychologists. Our service is in the process of increasing access to psychological therapies for older adults and this post will be a key component in addressing provision to the borough of Caerphilly. The post is a full-time, permanent position.
The older adult psychology service provides a range of evidenced based psychological therapies within the geographical area of Gwent, South Wales. The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board serves the population of Gwent, South Wales and is located between Cardiff and Bristol. Many of our facilities are located close to the M4 corridor, yet areas of outstanding beauty and tranquillity are within easy reach. There are five boroughs, each with its own CMHT provision and comprising of secondary mental health services, memory assessment and liaison/inpatient support practitioners. Each CMHT is line-managed by an experienced senior nurse and the multi-disciplinary team includes psychiatry, CPN’s, occupational therapists, social workers and administrative support staff. In addition to their service development role, the post holder will undertake psychological assessments and deliver appropriate therapeutic interventions and consultations in the borough of Caerphilly. The post holder will be based at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospital, Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly and be supported by two senior psychology colleagues, an assistant psychologist and administrative support.
We enjoy close links with major universities and provide clinical training support to the South Wales and Bath Clinical Training Courses. As such, there are opportunities for career development in terms of research, training placements and teaching. Support and supervision will be provided and opportunities for peer support are also available through the older adult psychology specialty and wider psychology network. The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has access to excellent Continuing Professional Development resources and has an enviable record for investing in staff development.
We welcome applications from a broad group of qualified psychological therapists (e.g., counsellors, psychotherapists, family therapists, applied psychologists, nurse therapists, and occupational therapists). Experience with older adult clients is desirable but by no means essential as we are happy to support applicants through a comprehensive induction process. However, we will only shortlist candidates who are able to demonstrate that they possess the requisite skills to practice within a secondary mental health service. Specifically, we would anticipate candidates hold a current UK professional registration (Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council) and who are able to demonstrate that they have the relevant post-graduate qualifications to deliver psychological therapies.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Closing date -
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Welsh language skills are desirable
