Cascade Trainers For Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression

The MH & LD Training and Education Department is looking to increase our number of Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) trainers. We have created two brand new roles to do this! These posts will allow the successful candidates to continue in their clinical roles but also hold a permanent position as a PMVA trainer for the equivalent of 7.5 hours per week. These hours will be annualised, so the trainer might train for two days one week, and none the next, for example.

Applications are welcomed from people who:

  • Are experienced HCSWs
  • Have an NVQ level 3 in Social and Health care (equivalent) or working towards this
  • Are up-to-date with their statutory & mandatory training
  • Have a proven track record for quality and professional development
  • Are passionate about reducing restrictive practices
  • Enjoy training and development.

In return you will become an accredited General Services Association trainer, be part of a developing and progressive team and have an opportunity to develop a clinical expertise in the field of reduction of restrictive practices.

Before applying you will need to seek agreement from your line manager and be available for 3 weeks training commencing 24th February, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The offer of post will be subject to a DBS check and Occupational Health assessment.

Please be mindful that this role is physically demanding on a regular basis.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
