Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.



An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Learning Disability Directorate of Aneurin Bevan University Heath Board for an enthusiastic, motivated Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse. The position is permanent and based at Twyn Glas which supports 5 individuals who have profound and multiple learning disabilities and associated complex nursing needs.

You will be responsible for the effective delivery of quality residential care to people with learning disabilities and act as named nurse. Individuals will be supported in promoting their independence, choice, personal beliefs and identity using a personalised range of augmented communication methods.

You will ensure sensory integration is taken into account and develop structured daytime activities using active support model and use of community facilities.

The Team comprises of a Residential Nurse Manager, Deputy Manager, Band 5 Registered Nurses and Band 4/3 and 2 Health Care Support Workers.

You will work as part of a team providing a person centred approach to support the service users to live in their own home and will support the assessment, care and provision of therapeutic interventions and activities for each individual through Active Support, Positive Behaviour Support and Positive Behaviour Management.

You will by ensuring that the support provided to service users is delivered in a valued, meaningful and structured manner. You will be expected to be aware of the impact of your own behaviour within the team and have the opportunity of bringing your own personal interests, hobbies and skills to the planning of care.

The Learning Disabilities Directorate need Learning Disability Nurses who are flexible, caring and committed with enthusiasm and energy to enable plans for service users which will improve their day to day lives.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
