Applications are invited for the position of Junior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine and Paediatrics based at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny.
The Paediatric Unit offers a very active and exciting post-graduate teaching programme and you will be encouraged and expected to participate in audits, reviews, journal club presentations, X ray meetings and teaching. We have a progressive post-graduate department and an excellent post-graduate medical library service within the hospital.
In the Emergency Department, we currently see 56,000 new patients per annum, of which 25% are children.
There is a dynamic and enthusiastic team of 5 Consultants who aim to provide outstanding care with a shop floor presence at least 12 hours per day, seven days a week, supported by an excellent Middle Grade tier made up of ST4+ trainees, Specialty Doctors and Senior Clinical Fellows. This post would be part of our 12 junior (F2/CT level) doctors who are also supported by a team of experienced ENPs.
Although these Clinical Fellow posts are not recognised for training, they are afforded the same training opportunities, with full access to in house training and support to attend courses or exams that will further a career in Emergency Medicine. Local Life Support Courses are available.
These are full time posts, however applications are welcome from those wishing to work part time.
This position involves Regulated Activity with children and/or adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:
- an adults and children’s barred list check

Course Funding: Please note that unless agreed by the Division in advance, course funding is not available for Clinical Fellow or fixed term cover for training grades
