Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine

Based at Nevill Hall Hospital 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialty doctor in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Services to join our team at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.

This post will help to support the middle grade staff within the department at Nevill Hall Hospital, which is one of two District General Hospitals in South East Wales within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.  The Nevill Hall site provides Acute Medicine, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatric, General Surgical, Orthopaedic, Trauma and Emergency Department services.  The Department of Anaesthesia is broadly spread across theatres, maternity, intensive care and pain activities.  The successful candidate is expected to work in all areas and participate in the on call rota which is well supported by Consultants.  The rota is currently 1:8 with the aim of moving towards a 1:11.  Both sites have generous departmental facilities and busy professional development activities.  This is a 10-session full-time job plan plus two additional temporary sessions.

The successful candidate must have evidence of the following:

  • At least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis), at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or
  • Equivalent experience and competencies.

Free parking is available across all Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Sites.

This position involves Regulated Activity with children and adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:

  • Enhanced check with barred list information, including
    - an adults and children’s barred list check
